The Short Version

Before she was a family law attorney, Ana Milena spent time as a caseworker, went to law school with a focus on family law from day one, and built a legal career in civil litigation before deciding to bring all of that back to family law full time. That path is why clients get someone who understands both what the law requires and what a family is actually going through.

Before Law School

Ana Milena has a double major in psychology and sociology from Stony Brook University. Before law school, she worked as a caseworker at Lutheran Social Services in New York City, where she advocated for children in foster care and worked alongside biological parents and the Administration for Children’s Services in cases involving the termination of parental rights.

That work gave her a firsthand look at how family law decisions actually land on the people living through them, something no classroom or courtroom can fully teach on its own. It’s also where the instinct behind AMG Law, LLC’s approach started: hold space for what someone’s going through, then hold steady on the legal work that needs to get done.

Law School and Early Career

Ana Milena graduated from Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center (Touro Law Center) in 2006. While there, she took part in the school’s Family Law Clinic, representing clients directly in divorce and family offense proceedings. That early experience is where she learned how much of family law comes down to clear communication, realistic expectations, and knowing when and how to negotiate.

Before founding AMG Law, LLC, Ana Milena spent three years working as a paralegal at the Law Offices of Martin H. Pollack, P.C. while attending law school at night. She was admitted to the bar in November 2006 and went on to practice at that same firm as an attorney for 17 years. Between her bar admission and today, that adds up to nearly two decades as a licensed attorney, handling court appearances, depositions, mediations, and arbitrations along the way, the kind of steady, practical experience that comes from actually doing the work, case after case.

Why Family Law, and Why Only Family Law

Ana Milena focuses her practice exclusively on family law in the New Jersey Family Part. That’s a deliberate choice. Family law cases touch everything, your children, your home, your finances, your future, and she believes that kind of case deserves an attorney whose full attention is on it, not one juggling it alongside other areas of law.

She’s also a member of the Barry Croland Family Law Inn of Court, a group of New Jersey judges and family law attorneys focused on strengthening the practice of family law across the state.

Trained Beyond the Courtroom

Not every family law matter needs to be resolved through litigation, and Ana Milena has built the credentials to offer other paths when they fit. She is approved by the New Jersey Judiciary as a mediator on the Roster of Mediators for Economic Aspects of Family Law Cases for Bergen and Passaic counties, and as a Parenting Coordinator on the statewide Roster of Approved Parenting Coordinators. She has also completed a 16-hour Introductory Interdisciplinary Collaborative Practice Training. Together, these mean clients have options for resolving a case with less conflict, when that’s the right approach for their family.
